As a service provider, particularly a creative one, you’ve probably never wondered if it’s time to hire a systems strategist. My approach is bigger-picture, not just focusing on summiting the mountain but every important step that gets you there. Client Experience Services: Dubsado or No?
As a certified Dubsado specialist, ClickUp expert and big fan of Zapier, I can and do recommend these systems to improve your processes - but, working with me doesn’t mean you’ll automatically have to invest in Dubsado. In fact, the only one of my services that relies on it is Dubsado Set Up, and for Experience Design and True North I’ll meet you where you’re at and suggest and/or audit the most suitable tools for the job. Let’s have a look at when your client experience may or may not need Dubsado.
Dubsado is great for…
If you’re a service provider who works with lots of clients at once, or work in an industry where bookings are taken a long way in advance (weddings, for example), Dubsado is a great fit. It removes the need for you to remember when different forms, reminders and invoices need to be sent to different clients, it keeps documents and details for each client in one place, and it automates everything. Dubsado really can be the missing puzzle piece to achieving that elusive work-life balance you’ve been looking for ever since you went self employed, and setting business boundaries you can actually uphold.
Dubsado is a tool that you should expect to keep in your business on a fairly long-term basis; it’s an ongoing support system that acts like a diligent team member in the background, and just like a team member you will need to pay for it to be there. If you’re a business owner who doesn’t really need a whole CRM system, are a die-hard fan of a different tool, or just honestly aren’t sure what you need at the moment, you may want to start with one of my other services.
Previous clients I’ve done Dubsado set ups for include photographers and florists, nutritionists and marketers, and brand designers and copywriters. The things they have in common? Projects booked with start dates months in advance; clients paying in instalments, for which invoices and reminders need to be sent at intervals; a deep desire to actually do the work they love instead of grinding away on admin.
Choose a different service if…
Dubsado isn’t the right fit for everyone, and going all-in on designing and implementing it isn’t what everyone needs. You might be better suited to my Experience Design if you want to zoom out a bit from the nitty gritty of Dubsado, and be able to confidently decide what your client experience needs next. We start with a visual outline of everything, so if you’re someone that likes to see things laid out in front of you, you’ll love this!
Previous clients that have gone through Experience Design are photographers (you lot love your systems!), VAs, marketing managers and funnel designers. They all needed some direction on which tools and CRMs to use, and came away raving about how easy the implementation was going to feel next. Sometimes, a change of perspective to see things from your client’s viewpoint is all you need to hit the ground running again.
